What does semen taste like?

what women think of semen taste

Semen Taste – A Woman’s Perspective

What does semen taste like? As a women – one thing I can say for certain is this – there are many variations of what a man’s cum can taste like. The words salty, bitter, bleach, chlorine, and copper are often used to describe the taste of semen. Most men would prefer to see more favorable descriptions for their own semen, especially since semen taste can definitely influence how often you receive oral sex from your partner.

Many women are happy to have lovers ejaculate in their mouths and swallow the semen. I count myself among those women. Others can’t stand the idea. Many more women fall somewhere in the middle of these two groups – and do it simply to please their partner.

If you are a woman who absolutely cannot deal with the taste of semen, consider having your guy wear a condom during fellatio. That way he can cum inside your mouth – but not actually into it.

Another thing to consider is trying to improve the taste of your partner’s semen to make his ejaculate taste more palatable.  As for improving semen’s taste, my extensive search of the medical literature and the Internet show no studies–but no shortage of opinions.

Some Urologists generally say men can’t modify the taste of semen. “In healthy men,” says Lawrence Ross, M.D., of the University of Illinois, “the composition of seminal fluid is constant because it includes a precise mixture of components necessary to support sperm.” If its composition is constant, its taste must be, too.

However,  many women insist that diet has major impact on the taste of semen. Former porn actress, Annie Sprinkle, who tasted hundreds of men’s semen, says vegetarians taste best, that eating fruit and drinking fruit juices a few hours before sex improves the taste, and that smoking, alcohol, meats, and asparagus make semen taste less favorable.

Internet discussions agree. Fruit juices are often recommended to sweeten semen, notably, apple and pineapple. Meanwhile, foods reported to foul the taste include Sprinkle’s list and others: meats, dairy, deep fried foods, coffee, alcohol, and asparagus (which makes sense because of its well-known ability to alter the aroma of urine), plus one nonfood item, cigarettes.

What is semen actually made of? Is semen the same as sperm?

Some people often interchange the words semen and sperm to mean the same thing. However, sperm is only a small component of semen – making up 2% or less of the actual ingredients in semen.

What semen is made of:

  • 96% of semen is made up of water
  • Sperm, which account for about 2 percent of ejaculate volume
  • Fructose, fruit sugar, which nourishes sperm
  • Vitamin C, which helps keep sperm healthy
  • Sodium bicarbonate, an alkaline compound that protect sperm from the slightly acid environment of the vagina
  • Various proteins and enzymes
  • Several minerals: magnesium, phosphorus, potassium–and zinc, which gives semen its odd, metallic taste

Can you improve the taste of your semen?

While there’s no authoritative research on this subject, most people believe that you can at least “influence” the taste of your semen by watching the foods and beverages that you put into your body. The good news is that the foods that sweeten semen–fruits and vegetables–are also good for your overall health, while most of those that spoil it are risk factors for heart disease and cancer. So sweetening semen should also work to improve a man’s health.

I’ve had many girlfriends contact me saying “Tracy – help……………my boyfriend/husband/lover has funky semen – what can I do?” There are things you can do to improve the taste of your partner’s semen. Here’s some things that can help improve the taste of that funky spunk.

5 Tips to Improve Semen Taste:

  • FRUIT! Certain fruits (and their juices) like pineapple and cranberry will make semen taste sweeter
  • Avoid alcohol and cigarettes – both negatively effect the taste of semen
  • Hydrate. Drinking lots of water helps ‘dilute’ and filter out bad tastes associated with semen
  • Beware of ‘strong’ tasting foods like asparagus and garlic, etc
  • Avoide Caffeine – coffee and tea contain a fair amount of caffeine, which makes semen taste bitter

As you can see, there are many things men can do to improve the taste of their semen. The golden rule that most women will agree with is that ‘sweet‘ is better than ‘bitter‘ when it comes to swallowing semen. The more a guy can help ‘sweeten’ his semen – the more likely he is to receive oral sex.

If a man would rather not change his diet, or if diet changes don’t provide sufficient taste enhancement, any “foulness” can often be masked. While providing fellatio, women might suck on peppermint or wintergreen lifesavers.

As for fear of swallowing, semen is 96 percent water and there’s nothing harmful in it. It’s also non-fattening, at around 20 calories per ejaculate.

To make swallowing easier, women might use lifesavers or keep a strong-flavored drink and a straw handy: wine, liqueur, grape juice, chocolate milk, or ice tea. After the man ejaculates, take a sip.

If your guy is looking to produce more semen or thicker semen, there are now supplements available that can dramatically increase a man’s semen load. Check out our top 3 semen boosters to give your guy a porn star finish!

What does cum taste like?

October 5, 2017 by Tony Gunderson

How does your cum actually taste?

what does semen taste likeWhat does my semen taste like? Can you change the taste of your cum? Are these questions you’ve ever wondered about before?

We constantly hear from both women and men with the question “what does cum taste like”? That’s not to say that many of these people haven’t already tasted semen before – but often times the question is asked because people are really wondering – what is cum SUPPOSED to taste like?

Of course this is a very tricky question – as the taste of semen varies greatly which makes it hard to definitely say what cum “should” taste like.

If you ask 100 different people what semen tastes like – you’ll likely receive 100 different responses, which will all reflect that particular person’s experience in the cum they’ve tasted.

The “taste” of cum – what people generally agree on.

While there are many different flavors associated with the taste of semen, in general the taste of semen is slightly salty and warm, although it can taste slightly bitter, and sometimes musky. The taste of semen also can depend on its viscosity – sometimes it’s thick and creamy, or it can by thinner and runny. A thicker semen will often have a stronger taste.

Some women describe cum as tasting somewhat like copper, chlorine, and even bleach! As you can see, a lot of the adjectives used to describe the taste of semen are not exactly complimentary! At best – many women would describe the taste of cum as being “tolerable” – which doesn’t sound that great.

Most men don’t realize that there are many things we eat, drink, and do – can influence the taste of our cum.

5 Factors that influence the taste of semen:

  1. Food – There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that what you eat affects the taste of your cum.
  2. Beverages – Certain beverages (coffee, alcohol, juices, etc. – can have a positive or negative influence on your semen taste.
  3. Lifestyle – Things like cigarettes and prescription drugs can influence your semen.
  4. Health – Your overall health, including weight, fitness, etc. can impact your ejaculate.
  5. Chemicals – Long term exposure to chemicals and other contaminants can negatively affect your semen.

As you can see – there are many different factors which will alter and/or affect the taste of your semen. Also, the thickness – or viscosity – of your cum will change how it tastes to your partner. If your cum is thick and creamy – then your partner will probably notice the taste  more – while thin and “runny” semen will probably be easier to swallow and have less after-taste.

Can I change the taste of my cum?

food can change the taste of your semenThe taste of your cum is not something that is cast in stone. Many men don’t realize that there are things they can do to change and improve the taste of their cum. Although there are supplements designed to improve the taste of your cum – you can do it quite easily yourself at home – and without spending money. And you might just improve your overall health at the same time you’re improving the taste of your cum.

The foods that are commonly claimed to improve or sweeten the taste of semen are basically foods that are good for you. One of the most common claims is that eating fruits like pineapple, papaya, and oranges will make semen taste sweeter. This may have less to do with the sugar content of the fruit itself than how certain enzymes break down and affect various proteins, like bromelian.

Foods to improve semen taste.

The fact is, there are not a ton of scientific studies that have been done on the taste of cum. OK – there hasn’t even been one that we’re aware of! However, there is a lot of “anecdotal” evidence – backed by wives and girlfriends – that certain foods will improve the taste of cum. Most of these are fruits or vegetables which have natural sugars that make semen taste sweeter.

Here are some foods that are generally accepted to improve the taste of your semen.

5 Food that make cum taste better

  • Pineapple – Pineapple is generally considered as one of the best foods you can eat to improve the taste of your semen. As a bonus, most women agree that Pineapple makes semen smell better as well.
  • Papaya – Papaya is a fruit rich in vitamins and nutrients that has natural sugars to make your cum taste sweeter
  • Bananas – Bananas are one of the easiest fruits to add to your diet for improved semen taste
  • Cinnamon – Almost everyone loves cinnamon, and considering how delicious it is – it’s not hard to imagine that it would improve the flavor of your semen
  • Celery – Although this one is surprising, as many people would say that celery has almost no flavor – many women swear that it improves the taste of their partner’s semen

Keep in mind when it comes to different foods altering the taste of YOUR cum – your mileage may vary. Everyone’s body is different, and not all things work for all people. However, the foods listed above have generally shown good results for improving the taste of semen.

Also remember that results don’t happen overnight, and it might take a week or more of adding these foods before your semen will have a noticeable change in taste, but it likely WILL happen.

Healthy Body = Tastier Semen

Okay, it’s not a slogan you’re likely to see on t-shirts anytime soon – but the fact is that a healthy body is more likely to produce good-tasting semen than an unhealthy body will. If you improve your health, whether through diet or nutrition, you’ll likely improve the taste of your semen as well.

Remember – “A pineapple a day keeps the semen tasting OK”!  And if these rules you don’t follow – she likely won’t swallow!

Semen Taste

May 12, 2017 by Brett Jones

Semen taste – does it matter?

The taste of semen has been described in many ways: coppery, salty, bleachy, like old pennies, and – the last thing a guy wants to hear about the taste of his semen – “gross”. If you ask 100 women what semen tastes like, you are quite likely to receive 100 completely different answers.

And the ironic thing is that most guys have no idea what their semen actually tastes like! The only thing we know for certain is that no guy wants his partner to think his semen tastes “gross” or even “disgusting. How your semen tastes can have a direct impact on how often you receive oral sex – so it’s no surprise that semen taste can have a huge impact on your sex life!

Any kind of intake, whether it’s food, medication, or drink, can affect the flavor of your semen or vaginal fluid,” Dr. Carol Queen, a sociologist and sexologist whose practice focuses on sex-positivity, among other sex-related topics. “Anything we smell or taste on the body is part of an excretory process – if you can tell a difference in someone’s body odor, then the likelihood is that you can tell about their sexual secretions, as well.”

According to Dr. Queen, if you want your bits to taste good, fruits like pineapple, papaya, and citrus will make a difference. “Semen is known for having a bitter flavor, and that’s what your partner was likely noticing—the absence of bitter flavor, not necessarily a sweeter flavor.”

Semen – what is it, anyway?

Semen, also called seminal fluid, is the fluid that is emitted from the male reproductive tract and that contains sperm cells, which are capable of fertilizing the female eggs. Semen also contains other liquids, known as seminal plasma, which help to keep the sperm cells viable.

Semen is produced and originates from the seminal vesicle, which is located in the pelvis. The process that results in the discharge of semen is called ejaculation. While sometimes people mistakenly interchange the words semen and sperm – however in actual fact only about 2 to 5% of the total volume of semen is made up of sperm cells.

Fluids contributed by the seminal vesicles are approximately 60 percent of the total semen volume; these fluids contain fructose, amino acids, citric acid, phosphorus, potassium, and hormones known as prostaglandins. The prostate gland contributes about 30 percent of the seminal fluid; the constituents of its secretions are mainly citric acid, acid phosphatase, calcium, sodium, zinc, potassium, protein-splitting enzymes, and fibrolysin.

Semen taste – how you can make it better.

Urban legend has it that foods like pineapple and sweet fruits will help make your cum taste good – and there is some truth to this. Most foods that contain natural sugars will have an impact on the sweetness of your semen.

It’s said that you are what you eat, and that is true as it pertains to semen as well. There are foods that make semen taste better, and there are food and habits that make semen taste worse.

For example, cigarettes, alcohol, and illegal drugs may make a man’s ejaculate taste bitter. Similarly, beef and pork are also considered to make it taste bad and saltier. Another common culprit is caffeine which may also be responsible for the bitterness in the ejaculation fluid.

Foods with high sulfur content such as broccoli and cabbage are considered to make it bitter. Dairy products are also believed to increase the saltiness, so if a man is consuming too much of it, his ejaculate will probably not taste that good.

A man who is too fond of foods with strong odor such as garlic or onions may also have strong-smelling and bad-tasting semen.
On the other hand, there are foods that are said to improve the tasteless, slightly salty normal flavor of semen.

Cinnamon and pineapple juice are considered to be two of the best foods for improving the taste of a man’s ejaculate. Any food that is high in sugar content will probably make the taste of cum a little sweeter and tastier. Wheatgrass, parsley, lemon, and peppermint could also sweeten the taste of a man’s ejaculation fluid.

Keep it real – and keep it healthy!

If your body is healthy, your semen is more likely to taste good or at least normal. So, keep all your medical conditions under check by getting proper treatment. Furthermore, the medications you take may also make your ejaculate taste bitter or excessively salty. While there is probably not much you can do here, you could probably try compensating by drinking lots of sweet fruit juices.

Of course, keep in mind that whether your partner likes the taste or not will depend a lot on her taste buds as well. Some may prefer the excessive saltiness while others may like it to taste sweet. It purely depends on your own experience and yours and your partner’s taste buds. Remember, as with many aspects of health – proper nutrition is the corner-stone of good sexual health. Healthy eating = healthy semen!
